Dan Walsh

@fixity

Dan Walsh, known by his username fixity, is a highly talented and innovative musician, composer, and producer hailing from Mayfield, Cork City. With an unwavering dedication to exploring the dynamic relationship between Tradition and Time, Dan's musical creations are a captivating blend of improvisation and contemporary techniques. Critics have lauded his work as "defined by its disregard for parameters" (The Thin Air), "a deep experience" (The Quietus), and simply exceptional (KFUEL). In 2013, Dan founded the Cork Improvised Music Club, which has become a thriving monthly residency at Plugd Records. Through this initiative, he has had the privilege of hosting, collaborating with, and learning from countless improvisers from Ireland and beyond, thereby enriching his artistic perspective. Inspired by this journey, Dan established The Council For The Dark Arts Orchestra in 2017. As the Director, Conductor, and Saxophonist of this remarkable 18-piece improvised music ensemble, he has led the orchestra to headline prestigious stages like The Bulmers Stage at Body and Soul Festival and mesmerize sold-out audiences at Cork Jazz Festival 2019. Additionally, Dan created Fixity in 2015 as a platform for his unique approach to composition and improvisation. This project emphasizes collaboration and the interpretability of his compositions by fellow musicians while delving into themes of Time's elusiveness, the impossibility of true repetition, and textural movement in song form. Fixity has released an impressive catalog of 10 individual works to date, including two LPs on Penske Recordings titled "The Things In The Room" (2016) and "No Man Can Tell" (2019). These critically acclaimed albums have not only garnered widespread recognition but also provided Dan with opportunities to perform across Ireland, Sweden, and the UK alongside his esteemed collaborators from Ireland and Scandinavia. In recognition of his outstanding musical prowess, Dan received the Indie Cork award for Outstanding Musical Performance in 2018. Today, he remains committed to continually creating groundbreaking music, whether as a solo artist, through Fixity, or in various other projects and collaborations. Moreover, Dan actively upholds the Cork Improvised Music Club and lends his production expertise to support fellow forward-looking artists in their recording endeavors. With his exceptional talent and unwavering passion, Dan Walsh is an artist who continuously pushes boundaries and captivates audiences with his visionary approach to music-making.

@acaballeromusic

Antonio Caballero, known by his username acaballeromusic, is a highly talented and versatile creator based in Flint, Michigan. With a rich musical background, Antonio's passion for music began at a young age when he attended the Flint School of Performing Arts for piano lessons. As his skills developed, he delved into various ensembles, expanding his repertoire to include brass and percussion instruments. Under the guidance of esteemed musicians like Dr. Quincy Dobbs and composer Andrew David Perkins, Antonio's focus shifted towards composition and music theory. His exceptional talent led to collaborations with prestigious ensembles such as the Flint Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Flint Youth Wind Ensemble, where his original compositions were premiered. Inspired by his educational experiences, Antonio pursued a degree in Music Education at the University of Michigan-Flint. Mentored by Ida Leschinskya, Dr. Genadi Zagor, and Dr. Katena Dinas, he studied the works of master composers while honing his skills in keyboard repertoire and composing his own pieces for performances. Beyond classical music, Antonio found a place in jazz ensembles as a pianist and trumpet player, showcasing his versatility across genres. Recognized for his exceptional talent, Antonio received numerous scholarships throughout his college years. After completing his baccalaureate degree, he sought creative freedom and solace in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan while teaching Band, Choir, and General Music in Marquette. Collaborating with fellow performers during this time resulted in the creation of his first string quartet titled "Iterations." Today, Antonio devotes most of his time to composing contemporary classical music and post-bop jazz while also exploring other creative outlets such as writing poetry about the joys and frustrations of living in the 21st century. Outside of his artistic pursuits, he finds solace in nature, frequently immersing himself in the beautiful woods of Marquette County through hiking, camping, and wildlife exploration. Antonio Caballero is a true virtuoso whose passion for music and nature shines through his captivating compositions and heartfelt performances.
