O mie de semne

@omiedesemne

Meet Gelu Diaconu and Dan Andrei Deaconu, the dynamic father-son duo behind O mie de semne. Launched in June 2018, their website, www.omiedesemne.ro, aims to create a specialized platform focusing on literature and the history of Bucharest. In just over seven months, they have gained recognition in the literary world, receiving numerous accolades from both the literary community and book lovers alike. Gelu Diaconu takes charge of the content side of things, providing engaging book reviews, reports, and presentations, while Dan Andrei Deaconu handles the technical aspects to ensure smooth website functionality. With their daily publishing schedule and fresh articles, www.omiedesemne.ro has quickly become a go-to cultural online journal for many readers. Their goal is to establish a solid long-term cultural platform and expand their reach by collaborating with renowned writers and promoting Romanian authors and their works. Financial sustainability is also a priority for them, as they rely on donations from appreciative readers to continue their content creation. They are striving to reach a monthly donation goal of $200 in order to fund monthly book competitions. Once they achieve their second objective of $500 in donations, they plan to further enhance their prizes and compensate potential future contributors to the site. This will allow Gelu and Dan to focus more on their work of promoting books and authors through interviews, reportage from various events, and purchasing necessary books for reviews. By supporting O mie de semne financially, you not only contribute to their growth but also get access to consistently high-quality content that keeps you engaged and informed about the vibrant literary scene in Romania.

Madira, one-of-a-kind-hearted,

@madira

Madira, also known as Oana Băluță, is a one-of-a-kind-hearted creator dedicated to nurturing a supportive space for single mom artists, makers, and freelancers. With her background as a visual artist for cultural projects and her experience as a mother to Maya, she understands the challenges and sacrifices that come with being a single mom. Recognizing the need for a space specifically designed for single (artist) moms outside of the domestic sphere, Madira aims to create a safe haven in Brasov. Through this community, Oana hopes to provide support, movement, professional development, and incubation for independent artist moms. By relocating to Brasov with Maya, Oana intends to offer her daughter a closer connection to nature and a nurturing environment. Madira is not just about physical space but also about fostering offline support among mothers. Through their group of financially supported mothers in their previous project called [m]others by Indie Box, Oana realized the importance of solidarity among mothers. They encouraged fellow moms to take up space and be artists-in-residence with their children involved in the creative process - a valuable bonding experience. This unique approach allows Maya to witness her mother's talents while creating a stronger bond between them. Madira's mission is to provide single independent moms (makers, artists, freelancers) with their own support group and workspace where they can reconnect, work on their craft, read, or even have an artistic residency in the mountains. With strict safety measures in place and recommendations required for access, Madira welcomes moms from all over the country to share resources and surplus goods that bring joy into their lives. Oana's plan is to secure support for basic needs such as rent, maintenance, project management assistance, writing promotion materials for larger funding opportunities in the spring. The goal is to open the space as soon as possible for moms who are in dire need of it. With the support of contributors, Oana aims to generate €5000 (monthly contribution of €1000) strictly for the first five months of establishing the community and local partnerships. During this time, she will also create a self-sustaining system, including an online store and events to promote mothers under the Madira umbrella starting as early as November. In these initial five months, Oana will also focus on building the human value of the community through small, intimate circles that embrace slow living. These circles will make moms and their children feel like they belong to a larger family. The hub's intention is to provide support programs, personal development know-how, and individual therapy sessions for mothers who need assistance. Oana, being one of the beneficiaries herself, understands the needs of her fellow moms and is motivated to find someone who recognizes the importance of supporting these first steps. Although it may seem like starting from scratch, Oana believes that as mothers, they possess an innate power that stems from infinity. She appreciates your attention and welcomes any questions or suggestions you may have about Madira. If you feel inspired to contribute or if you have connections to individuals or organizations that could potentially fund this project, Oana would be grateful for your guidance. You can contact her via email at [email protected] or reach out on Instagram. Let's join Oana in bringing her dream to life and supporting single mom artists in their journey with Madira.
